The Whiskey Rebellion Festival takes pride in the fact that we have something for every taste and that’s why it’s important that we provide family activities that are fun and entertaining, and (don’t tell the kids) they’re educational as well!

For the adventurous there’s the wooden nickel scavenger hunt, an event that’s become a festival tradition. Kids of all ages visit historic sites throughout the festival and gather commemorative wooden nickels for a chance to win great prizes. Check below for a list of nickel locations.

The whole family can mingle with re-enactors, learn about our region’s history and see craft and heritage demonstrations from the 18th century.

There are interactive children’s activities in the Lil' Rebels Heritage Area located in LeMoyne House Garden featuring history, magic, art and music.

Take a free bus ride out to the Frontier Fort Site to visit the Lil Rebels Heritage Area in Washington Park. Come enjoy the Free pony rides, from 12:45 until 3:45 and Free Barnyard Petting Zoo from 11:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.

New this year: Little Rebels test their frontier skills at the Washington Health System Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center 2016 Summer Camp Whiskey Rebellion Festival, Obstacle Course located by Schneider’s Fort on Saturday July 9th. Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The obstacle course is for all ages and families! Join Jared Englert, Camp Supervisor, to complete the obstacle course that includes hurdles, a tunnel, ball games and more! The Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center’s 2016 Summer Camp is designed to teach children the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through group activity focusing on self-esteem, self-awareness and teamwork! Stop by the course to receive more information on the programs and services we offer!

It’s a chance to create memories your family will cherish for years to come!

Returning by popular demand: Bob the Juggler will provide strolling entertainment - magic, stilt walking and juggling - in the downtown area between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

New this year: Al Mazing will be strolling with his magic ostrich between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the downtown area, with 45 minute Family Magic shows at 12:00 p.m. and
2:00 p.m. in the LeMoyne House Garden.

Saturday, 11:30am to 5pm

Every year the Wooden Nickel Scavenger Hunt is voted a festival family favorite. This year’s hunt comes with a brand new twist: “The Mystery Nickel”. Discover the secret hiding places of the 2016 mystery nickels with the help of some “in the know” festival personalities. We will also have collectible nickels available at various locations throughout the festival. Check back frequently before the festival for the reveal of this year’s nickels and clues to guide your scavenger hunt. Collect as many wooden nickels as you can for the chance to win the community prize basket! Bring your best detective skills and get ready, get set, hunt!

Mystery nickels will be distributed by street performers and re-enactors.

People who find mystery nickels can redeem them for prizes at the Bradford House Gift Shop Tent in front of the Main Pavilion. All those who collect any of the festival nickels can register to win the community prize basket and receive a 2016 festival nickel at the same location.

Nickel Locations:
Bradford House (Main Street)
LeMoyne House (Maiden Street)
Frontier Fort (Washington Park)
Pioneer Room (George Washington Hotel Main Street)
Madeleine's Garden Lil Rebels Children's Area (Behind the LeMoyne House)
